This is a beautiful Art Nouveau Silver Plated Lady's Belt from the late 19th or early 20th century. The belt is made up of linked panels featuring a design of intertwining flowers and foliage. It consists of 12 roughly square panels forming the main body of the belt. There is a large rectangular panel which holds the clasp, so would normally be at the front and in the middle it has a sequence of five graduated panels, which would normally be at the back, although it could be worn the other way round if desired.

The belt is 76cm / 29.5ins long and weighs 143.2g / 5oz.

Condition is very good, with no damage to the links or panels and no significant plate loss. The catch holds the belt nice and secure around the body. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

There is no makers' name or mark on the belt, it is simply stamped EPNS for silver plate along with a Fleur-de-lys and a crown. This dates it to before 1896 as it became illegal to mark silver plate with a crown symbol in that year. These marks also show that it is of British manufacture.
