Abstract Oil Painting of a Venetian Canal by Thomas Henslow Barnard.
58cm wide x 48.5cm Height including frame
Painter, who studied at West of England College of Art in Bristol under Donald Milner and briefly in Cheltenham under James Bateman. He was commissioned as a Sandhurst-trained officer in the Army in both World Wars. The grandson of Frederick Goodall (1822-1904), he exhibited at the RA, RWA and NEAC and was elected an Associate of the RWA, 1961 and a full member in 1989. He showed regularly with the Fosseway Artists and taught for many years at the Cheltenham Boy’s College. The GAC, New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, and Cheltenham Art Gallery hold an example of his work. Tom Barnard was a member of Cheltenham Group of Artists and lived at Leckhampton, Gloucestershire.
