A fabulous and unusual example of a Victorian visiting card case made from fabulous period Tortoise Shell with a bright shiny patina showcasing the wonderful markings of the shell with colours ranging from golden Champagne to deep chocolate brown.

The central panel to both back and front is beautifully inlaid with a series of engraved flowers in Mother of Pearl with it's wonderful iridescent qualities.

The hinge and catch in perfect working order. Dating to c.1870 the case remains in superb condition. 4 1/8" x 3".
