Tony Sheath b.1946 Oil Painting Evening Solitude
We are offering for sale this large, original oil painting on canvas by the renowned English landscape artist Tony Sheath, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and entitled it verso 'Evening Solitude'. The painting depicts a tranquil river landscape, with the last rays of the setting sun being reflected in the still waters of the river. This is a wonderfully peaceful painting and the river may be the River Wye, one of Tony's favourite subjects.
Anthony (Tony) Sheath, was born in London in 1946 and won his first Art Prize at the age of 10. He began his career in an advertising agency and in the city, while painting and exhibiting widely. In 1976 he became a professional artist and during the late 70s and 80s became resident artist for the Frost and Reed Bond Street Gallery. Many of his works have appeared in print form and are very popular, for they reflect the rural life and countryside of England away from the hubub of modern life.
Tony Sheath lives in Herefordshire and scenes of that county and Gloucestershire feature in many of his paintings.
The painting is framed in its original 3 1/4" gilded and painted frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
