This is a really charming early Victorian tinsel picture in nice original condition dating from around 1840. The picture depicts a notorious actor of the period, Mr Kean as Richard III. The hand coloured print is embellished with colourful sequins, foil and fabric to his marvellous costume and the large shield by his feet.

These antique tinsel pictures were popular in the early 19th century but are becoming increasingly hard to find now. This is a really good example and one of four of these we have recently acquired from a small collection. This is a really good example with a great subject and is in its original parcel gilt frame that suits it perfectly.

The frame measures 29 cms by 23 cms.
