Beautiful reproduction 15th.c. tapestry wall hanging by the celebrated French weavers Robert Four of Aubusson c.1980. 59″ x 56″ tapestry with a scene of animals and figures in and around a protected hunting ground with a château and other grand buildings in the background. Strong colours and delightful detail. Excellent condition with the original label to the rear.
Aubusson in central France has a heritage of almost 500 years of weaving and tapestry production. Robert Four continues to manufacture with the traditional techniques earning recognition from the French government in 2006 as an Entrepise du Patrimonie Vivant. As well a the reproduction of antique textiles they are well known for strictly limited edition collaborations with contemporary artists.
