Syrian Games Table inlaid Syrian games table %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1920, large profusely inlaid Syrian games table, the top with multiple geometric and asymmetric inlays of various woods and mother of pearl. The deep top opens to reveal similarly inlaid interior and a section with a hinged centre which lifts to reveal a chess and a backgammon table and like the outside is profusely inlaid. The table has a swivel top and underneath is a long narrow drawer, and there is a further small shaped drawer which has gaming pieces inside. The undercarriage is inlaid and stands on 4 shaped legs united by an unusual stretcher which is stepped and has a platform centre. Wonderful example of Syrian antique furniture and is a very pretty decorative piece. 30 gaming pieces included.
