A stylish and unusual oak swivel desk chair with leather seat by J.S Ford Johnson & Co Chicago. With shaped arms and a central back splat under a curved top rail. With a drop in seat which revolves on the original mechanism. Standing on 4 shaped legs with brass castors (modern replacements). Newly reupholstered in a good quality soft tan coloured Italian leather. Dating from the early 20th century.

J.S Ford Johnson & Co was an American antique furniture manufacturer in the late 19th and early 20th century. was founded by John Sherlock Ford and Henry W. Johnson in Columbus, Ohio in 1867 as a chair manufacturing company. In 1868 the company relocated their factory to Michigan City, Indiana. In 1872 the company moved their headquarters to Chicago where they opened a showroom at 302 Wabash Avenue. They became known as J. S. Ford, Johnson & Company.

Solid and sturdy. General wear and marks commensurate with age. It has an old stain to some of the seat rail and lower sections which has rubbed off in parts.
