This is a really impressive large antique gilt frame in good condition with its original gilt finish dating from around 1870. The frame has a cast gesso laurel leaf design to the inner raised moulding and a substantial acanthus leaf design to the outer frame with a black highlighted sections around both.
The heavy frame is a good depth being 10 cms deep and measures 90 cms by 78 cms overall. The aperture measures 40.5 by 51.5 with the opening at the back to receive the painting being 43 cms by 54 cms.
