This is certainly a rather superb find, great detail in the moulds and lovely condition. This overmantle has a not too common landscape shape with the arch top, most being portrait design. It appears to have had minor work over the last 150 years and even retains the original ceramic feet. We believe this to date from 1868 by a small piece of information on the rear boards and that would certainly ring true by style etc. The glass is good and has only minor reassuring foxing to confirm its originality.
