Superb Geo,III,Commemorative Snuff Box.
A fantastic Georgian Commemorative Snuff Box,turned in a Burr Wood, possibly Walnut or a Briar. It is lined with Tortoiseshell,which is perfect. In the lid and inset under gilt framed convex glass is the head of George III mounted on Shagreen,there is a black 'slip' around which can be seen details of all significant dates of his life., i.e.Birth,Crowning,Marriage and Death.
Wonderful colour and patination.French c.1830-50. It is 8.5cms Diameter. I am listed as a Private Dealer but some of my Stock can be viewed at The Antique Shop, 53, High Street Heathfield E.Sussex.If you wish, I am am able meet you there to discuss any items and also bring along any items which are not on Antiques Atlas but not displayed in the Shop.
