This solid silver convertible powder compact is suitable for use with modern solid / pressed face powders or as a handbag mirror.
This Kigu 'Mayfair Series' convertible compact is decorated with a diamond cut stylized flower design on a satinized background. The compact is fully hallmarked London Assay Office in 1968. A good quality compact made by the powder compact company with the goldsmith's tradition. All clasps & hinges work perfectly.The solid silver compact is in excellent condition with a very good beveled mirror. The powder well is lined with the original instruction leaflet. The luxury Kigu powder puff is in place making this compact ready to use with modern pressed / solid face powder. The mirror bezel is signed "KIGU MADE IN ENGLAND." The compact has the original sterling silver retaining ring which is easy to put in & take out. The manufacturers supplied this compact with a retaining ring so that it could be used with powder pans measuring 57 mm diameter. When the retaining ring has been removed the standard side powder pans measuring 67 mm (like Max Factor 'Creme Puff' can be used. The base has the typically gorgeous guilloche design we have come to expect from Kigu. The base a A H inscribed which is part of the piece's provenance. This compact comes with an immaculate velvet drawstring pouch to protect it.
