A steel engraving after Edwin Long of his 1875 masterpiece entitled The Babylonian Marriage Market, a painting of young women being auctioned into marriage. It received attention, when first displayed, for its provocative depiction of women being sold, and its attention to historical detail.

The engraving is well framed and large, the image size measuring 85.5 cm x 45 cm.
