Unusually small 17th.c. carved oak court cupboard c.1690. Slim drawer in the top, raised on lovely carved cup and cover baluster columns over two single door cupboards. The top with sloping sides, typical of the form, featuring an unusual shaped inner frame moulding within the panels. Giloche frieze with carved centres above the bottom door and arch detail along the bottom rail. Period timbers with later adaptations and repairs to the feet and back. The drawer carries an old auction label laid over another which makes reference to Morgan Williams of St Donat’s castle in Glamorganshire, a Medieval castle which was sold and subsequently completely remodelled by the notorious American millionaire and newspaper magnate William Randolph Hurst in the 1920’s. Good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
