Silver Scottish Medal Wallace Monument, N MacPhail
A Scottish medal depicting the National Wallace Monument, Stirling.
The medal is not hallmarked therefore selling as white metal.
The medal is signed by the maker "N MacPhail".
Neil MacPail was born in Gorbals, Glasgow, Lanarkshire in 1844. He was a master engraver (according to the 1881 Scotland Census) who owned Macphail and Niven wholesale stationers, die sinkers, printers and lithographers to the Queen, at 7-8 Buchanan Street, Glasgow. He was a lay member of the Glasgow Art Club between 1886-1902.
