This is a nice quality Mid-Century Silver Plated Wine Bottle Coaster with a turned wooden base and a central silver plated disc. The coaster is of traditional design with bowed sides and a gadrooned rim. The base is covered with blue felt to protect the surface of your table. The small green strip covers where the central disc is attached to the wood.

The bottle coaster is made in Birmingham by well known firm Barker-Ellis and dates to the 1960s or 70s. Barker-Ellis was formed in 1961 by the merger of two long standing Birmingham electroplaters Barker Brothers and Ellis & Co, both of which dated back into the 19th century.

Condition is very good with just one truly tiny ding in the central disc of the base and no plate loss. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The coaster is 14.5cm / 5.75" in diameter from rim to rim and will comfortably hold a still or sparkling wine bottle with room to spare. It is 4.5cm / 1.75" high.

The bottom rim of the bottle coaster is marked Barker-Ellis and stamped E.P.C.A for electroplated copper alloy, ie. silver plate.
