Silver Plated Coffee Pot Goldsmiths & Silversmiths
Here we have an extremely elegant early 20th century Silver Plated Coffee Pot. The pot has a round base, reeded decoration to the lower part of the pear-shaped body and a slender upper part. Unusually the lid is hinged to the side rather than in front of the handle. The handle and urn shaped finial are bakelite so will not get hot to the touch when the pot is full of hot coffee.
The coffee pot is in the Regent Plate range made by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company and dates to the period 1900-1930. Founded in 1880, the company was based in premises at 112 Regent Street and quickly established a reputation as a retailer and manufacturer of very high quality silverware, silver plate and antique jewellery. They were badly affected financially by the Second World War and in 1952 they were bought out by Garrard & Co.
Condition is very good with no dings, dents or plate loss and just a very small chip in the rim of the bakelite finial. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The coffee pot stands 29cm / 11.4ins tall and is 16.7cm / 6.6ins from lip to handle. It weighs in at 707g / 24.9oz.
The underside is marked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street, W. REGENT PLATE.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Hermes Tracked & Signed Courier.
