This is a smart and functional early 20th century Silver Plate Wine Funnel. The wine funnel is in three parts, the main round upper bowl having a pierced base and gadrooned rim, the inner filter having a wire mesh top and sprung legs and the funnel which has a curved spout to direct the wine down the inside wall of the decanter or wine jug.

The wine funnel is English and dates to around the 1920s / 1930s but there is no makers' mark of any kind. The inner filter has the registered design number 713528, which shows that the design was registered in 1925/26, so the funnel can't be any earlier than this.

Although the funnel has definitely seen some use, overall condition is good with no significant plate loss and just a couple of flat spots in the bowl plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The wine funnel is 10.5cm / 4.1ins in diameter across the top of the bowl and 14cm / 5.5ins in length. It weighs 133.0g / 4.7oz.
