This is a top quality Silver Plated Gravy Boat in a traditional style from the 1920s / 30s. The gravy boat is made by the renowned firm of James Dixon & Sons Ltd in Sheffield, a company with a history that runs from the early 1800s to the mid-1980s. They produced Sterling Silver, Silver Plate, Pewter and, increasingly from the 1920s onwards, Stainless Steel.

This large half pint size gravy boat is in a traditional Georgian style that was revived in the early years of the 20th century. It has a scalloped rim, a foliate topped C shaped handle and stands on 3 hoof feet. It is a robust, solid feeling piece that will still do a great job serving the gravy at a dinner table today.

Condition is good with no dings, dents or plate loss and just some superficial surface wear, which is only to be expected after many years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Dimensions are 19cm / 7.5" from lip to handle, 10.5cm / 4.25" across the body and stands 11cm / 4.5" high to the top of the handle. It weighs in at 308g / 10.8oz.

The gravy boat is marked on the bottom with 1/2 PT, designating half pint size, EP for electroplate, JD & S with the famous tumpet & banner mark for James Dixon & Sons Ltd, Made In England and the product code.
