Shop display Lalique L'Air du Temp perfume bottle
The original design for the "L'Air du Temp" perfume bottle was by the sculptor Jean Rebull, and was in the shape of a sun.
But it was Marc Lalique who produced the iconic two doves atop a swirling ribbed body version, as presented here, for Nina Ricci. It was first produced in 1951 … Incidentally, Marc Lalique was friends with Nina Ricci's son Robert.
This bottle is much larger than a "normal" bottle. It was produced to be used as a shop display. It is a modern piece. As with all Lalique, it carries the engraved "Lalique ® France" signature.
Being a display, we do not think it actually contains perfume, but as it is sealed we have not proved this theory … the bottom of the bottle does bear a label stating "FACTICE DUMMY".
The perfume bottle (alone) measures 9 cm (3.6") in diameter, and stands, including the stopper collar, 12 cm (4.7") tall. The stopper is 19 cm (7.6") wide. When combined with the bottle, the piece stands 20.5 cm (7.8") tall.
The perfume bottle is in excellent condition, with no faults noted.
There is no packaging.
