These are a top quality set of four salon or hall chairs. They could also be used as bedroom chairs. They are very opulent and well upholstered. The chairs are mid to late Victorian, dating to around 1870. The chairs are made in solid oak with parcel gilt detailing. Just look at the flamboyance of the carving. look at the turned legs and arm supports. Look at the acanthus decoration to the crest rail. Look at the arms and back supports. These are heavy ornate chairs and would have been fearfully expensive when they were made.

The chairs are in good condition. The upholstery is rich and clean. The joints are solid. No sign of worm or damage. Replacement casters to the armchairs.

These are very imposing period chairs which will look good in a large period setting.

The side chairs are 38 inches high at the back and the seats are 19 inches high and 21 inches wide. The armchairs are 39 inches high at the back and the seats are 19 inches high and it is 25 inches from outside arm to outside arm.
