Scottish Silver Plate Gravy Boat-Hamilton & Inches

Here we have a good quality early 20th century Silver Plate Gravy Boat in the Georgian Revival style. The gravy boat has a broad body standing on three hoof feet with a scroll handle topped with acanthus leaf decoration. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The gravy boat was made by the Scottish firm Hamilton & Inches and dates to around 1900-1930. Founded in 1866 by the uncle and nephew partnership of James Hamilton and Robert Kirk Inches, the firm opened its premises in Edinburgh's famous Princes Street and was given a royal warrant by Queen Victoria as Goldsmiths, Silversmiths, Clock and Watchmakers to Her Majesty. After James Hamilton retired, the firm stayed in the Inches family until 1992 when it was bought by Asprey of London, although it later regained its independent status.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The gravy boat measures 17.5cm / 6.9ins from lip to handle, 9.3cm / 3.6ins across and stands 10.2cm / 4ins high. It weighs in at 269g / 9.5oz.
The underside of the body has the stamp for Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
