Scottish Family Portraits Children In Tartan Kilts
Fabulous Huge Scale Scottish Highland Family Oil Portrait On Canvas Signed & Dated c1930.

This is a fabulous Country House / Scottish Hunting Lodge piece and it was painted by a
well exhibited British artist who has signed the work J.Beauford.

This is an incredible quality early 20th century (1930) Oil Painting depicting three young Scottish children wearing the Clan MacGregor red tartan kilts.

Clan MacGregor (also known as clan Gregor) are a Highland clan who can claim an origin as far back as the 800s.
As well as being among the first Scottish clans to play the bagpipes in the early 1600s, clan MacGregor produced one of the most famous folk heroes in Scottish history, in the form of Rob Roy MacGregor. A Jacobite, cattle rustler and famous outlaw, MacGregor has been immortalised in popular culture and song for centuries.
The MacGregor clan motto is "'S Rioghal Mo Dhream" (Royal is my race) and the clan crest is a crowned lion's head.
Although family or clan patterns weren't established until the end of the 18th century.

Brother and sister rest casually seated on a green upholstered poof with their youngest brother shown standing by their sides.

The older sister sits holding a large opened book in her hands and all three children
look in a concentrated gaze towards the artist.

This adorable one off painting portrays
them all with beautiful blue eyes and all have dark hair.
They all wear typical Scottish attire dressed in fabulous MacGregor Red Tartan kilts.
The older boy is painted wearing a child's Sporran with a matching tartan tie.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Painted by the listed British artist John Beauford b.1865
Indeed, some of Beauford’s works can be found in various British institutes, including The Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Natural History Museum in London, to name but a few.
Signed and dated (1930) lower right corner.

Framed and mounted within the original spectacular quality gesso scrolled frame
decorated with acorns and acanthus leafs.

The painting and frame are offered in an overall very good original order.
