Scarce Original Tintin Cinema Poster
Proudly presenting this original French linen backed film poster for Tintin Et Les Oranges Bleues (Tintin and The Blue Oranges), designed by the great Georges Remi Hergé, recently custom framed and mounted, ready for display.
Depicting Belgian’s best-known export, Tintin, his dog Snowy and swashbuckling Captain Haddock amongst the other characters, the poster has some bubbling, mainly to top left but the condition is generally good.
Born in 1907, Georges Remi, known as Hergé, was the creator of Tintin one of the most popular comic book characters in the entire history of the genre. He drew Tintin from 1929 until just before his death in 1983. Even in America, where the comics were less popular than in Europe, the Tintin comics influenced a generation of artists with the precise drawing technique that Hergé used, known as the "ligne claire" or clear line. It is this technique that makes this artwork so instantly recognisable.
Tintin and the Blue Oranges is a 1964 French film directed by Philippe Condroyer and starring Jean-Pierre Talbot as Tintin. It was the second live-action movie, with an original story based on characters from the comic book series The Adventures of Tintin, written and drawn as we see in this poster, by Hergé.
Rarely offered for sale, this salient piece of cinematic artwork is a testament both to Georges Remi Hergé and the lasting legacy of Tintin.
