A really fabulous Sardine dish or box, of course it could be used for many other things.

Highly decorative, the finial on the top comprises of a Sardine on top of a Scallop shell and the silver plated lid is smothered in sprays of Ferns tied with ribbons and bows very English and very Victorian.

The glass dish is original and a hefty piece of glass in perfect condition and again, beautifully decorated. This glass sits on the silver plated under-plate which is where the full mark can be found for the well renowned silversmith, James Dixon and Sons.

What makes this one even more special is the matching tongs.

Excellent condition dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890 measuring 7" x 6 1/2" x 4" tall to top of the lid finial.
