Royal Navy “Grog Tub”, Oak and Brass Sailor’s Rum Barrel
A super piece of British history, the barrel known as a “Grog Tub” was used to carry the Navy Rum Tot given out to twice daily to the sailors, sadly a tradition now obsolete
This one dates from the mid 20th century, it has the navy toast in large brass letters on the side
“THE QUEEN GOD BLESS HER”
The barrel is a 2 Gallon Tub, it is coopered in Oak and has 3 brass bands and the regulation star with a brass acorn handle on the lid
Very rare, in good attractive used condition, this piece will adorn any room with a British Naval Theme
