Royal Document in the name of Queen Elizabeth I
The Royal Document (Inspecimus) in the name of Queen Elizabeth I, requested by Thomas Spyer of the original grant to the Royal Manor of Huntercombe, Oxfordshire dated 12th February 1591.
The Document states that the Manor of Huntercombe, formerly belonged to the monastery, priory and hospital of Dorcester-Upon-Thames, but after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, was granted by King Henry VIII to Richard Taverner of London, Esquire, and Robert Taverner, also of London, Gentleman, for the sum of £1619.13s.4d. The Document also details the lands etc., that belong to the Manor.
Beautifully written onto vellum and has part of Queen Elizabeth's second Great Seal of England remaining. The Full Inscription on the Seal being 'Elizabeth, by Grace of God, Queen of England, France & Ireland, Queen Defender of the Faith'. The Seal was designed by Nicholas Hilliard.
At the bottom right hand side are the two signed signatures of the Masters of Chancery, one being Matthew Carew. Due to personal reasons 'Wayside Mews and Collectables' will be unable to fulfil any orders for the immediate future, this will include the period up to St Valentines Day 2023.
