Lath Back Rocking Chair - Superb Order - c1900

This lath back Windsor Rocking chair is presented in wonderful condition and a lovely example.

The chair is well crafted with very attractive defined light elm & beech grain which displays beautifully.

The piece has good seat height (48cm or 18.9") combined with strength in the back and arms and therefore makes an excellent choice as a regular daily use chair (see images for full dimensions).

Curved laths to the back provide comfortable support and lead into a broad top rail. Nicely swept outer risers, which terminate in a turned finial, unite the back with the arm via twin turned supports.

The chair rides upon substantial turned tapered legs which are united by a double 'H' stretcher for robustness and durability. The rocker bars are of good length and provide a soothing ride.

This chair will make a charming addition to any home and is a nice example of this classic design. The chair is very comfortable and solid throughout.
