Lath Back Rocking Chair - Immaculate Order - c1900
This lath and splat back Windsor Rocking chair is presented in stunning condition having been the subject of extensive professional restoration.
The chair is crafted in well figured beech producing very attractive defined light grain which displays beautifully.
The piece has good seat height (47cm or 18.5") combined with strength in the back and arms and therefore makes an excellent choice as a regular daily use chair (see images for full dimensions).
A centre splat with twin curved lath to either side provide the back support and lead into a broad top rail. Nicely swept outer risers, which terminate in a desirable turned bobbin, unite the back with the arm via twin turned supports.
The chair rides upon substantial turned tapered legs which are united by a double 'H' stretcher for robustness and durability. The rocker bars are of good length and provide a soothing ride.
This chair will make a charming addition to any home and is a nice example of this classic design. The chair is very comfortable and solid throughout.
