River Landscape Oil Painting Style of E.W.Mellor
Large River Landscape Oil Painting in the Style of Everett Watson Mellor (1878-1965)
This is a lovely landscape oil painting, concentrating on the portrayal of the reflection of clouds and trees in tranquil water.
It is signed in the lower left hand corner bearing an indistinct inscription.
‘ STYLE OF ‘
Artist Everett Watson Mellor (1878-1965) who was the son of noted artist William Mellor.
He painted in a very similar style to his father and their works are sometimes confused.
Inspiration came from the landscape of North Wales and the Northeast, particularly Yorkshire.
Both his and his father’s paintings lovingly portray the British countryside in all its glory.
The painting depicts the still waters of a lake which is almost in a bowl, surround by tree covered slopes apart from a grassy slope in the centre. It is a bright sunny day, and the waters of the lake are still and show the reflection of the landscape superbly.
The painting is framed in a 3 1/4" ornate, swept gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
MEASUREMENTS (Including Frame)
Width 42" Inches ( 106.8 cm )
Height 31 3/4" Inches ( 80.65 cm )
CONDITION
Very good. There are no repairs to the canvas, which is clean and taut, with no craquelure, stretcher marks or paint loss. The frame is also in very good condition.
