Richly decorated Indian miniature hunting fighting
This is a richly decorated antique Indian Mughal miniature gouache painting divided into six scenes showing hunting, cooking, praying and fighting which is attractively framed. It has been dated as 19th Century.
The scenes are set within a blue and gold border with Arabic text to top and right and also covering the reverse. The picture has been double glazed allowing the reverse to be displayed.
The six individual scenes are finely detailed depicting a richly costumed man (or men) on a hunting expedition which involves cooking, hunting leopard, tiger and deer, praying and fighting.
Dimensions:
Frame 45 x 34.5 cm
Painted image 27 x 17.5 cm
Condition: There is some loss of paint (see close-ups) particularly along the left border and a couple of small marginal tears also on the left side. The paper is quite yellowed. An inscription on the back of the frame indicates that it was probably framed in 1998 it is still in good condition and is ready to hang on a wall.
