Regency Rosewood & Mahogany Shaving Mirror
This lovely shaving mirror dates from around the 1820s/1830s. It has what we believe to be a rosewood-finished shaped base with an ornately carved column and carved feet. The upper circular mirror is mahogany framed with lovely brass fittings and is supported on a tapering mahogany column. We believe that there may originally have been a fitting to hold a shaving brass and razor present, but this is now missing.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some cracking to the rosewood veneers on the top of the base. The mirror has some black spotting and corrosion as might be expected. The brass fittings have some tarnishing. There are some signs of restoration in places. As is mentioned above we believe that there may originally have been a fitting to hold a shaving brush and razor present, but this is now missing.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 165cm high, 32cm wide (base), 29cm diameter of mirror (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
