Regency Gillows "Spanish" buttoned leather chair
A very fine Gillows "Spanish" mahogany framed armchair in a burgundy ox blood red buttoned leather and finished with antiqued brass studs.
This armchair is named in the Gillows catalogue ( volume 1, page 230 ) as “Spanish” chair.
Fantastically decorative and beautifully carved. The armchair is extremely comfortable and would make a perfect reading or library chair, but also being such a decorative piece and finished all around, it will free stand in a living room too.
God original condition and has been well cleaned and beeswax polished. The leather has been recently done, so this is also in great condition.
Measuring:
40 1/4’’ or 102cm high
24 1/2’’ or 62cm wide
38’’ or 97cm deep
Seat height in the hollow 14 12’’ or 37cm
Seat height at the front 17’’ or 43cm Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
