Regency Engraving Bartolozzi After Lavinia Countes


This is a delightful sepia engraving by Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815) after Lavinia Countess Spencer depicting Henrietta Ponsonby, ( Lady Duncannon) and later The Countess of Bessborough.
Henrietta Ponsonby 1761-1821 was born Lady Henrietta Frances Spencer and became wife of Francis Ponsonby 3rd Earl of Bessborough and mother of the notorious Lady Caroline Lamb. Her father John Spencer 1st Earl Spencer was great grandson of John Churchill 1st Duke of Marlborough.
The engraving is in a good quality sharply detailed ebonised frame with gilded slip that compliments the work beautifully. The frame measures 50 cms by 32 cms

Provenance: was were previously sold as part of the Stanstead Country House Sale at Sothebys in 1999.
