A beautiful Georgian Girandole Earring which can also be worn as a Pendant.It is Silver,backed with Gold (known as Double with an acute accent over the 'e')The thin layer of Gold was used to strengthen the Silver.The small rings attaching each section are also Gold as is the Hoop for Hanging. This Hoop was the original Earring Loop which has been joined to make Loop for use as a Pendand.It is set with multiple early Mine cut Diamonds of which the very tiny ones have been set into the surrounding scrolled leaf and Flower Detail of which the largest one is in the centre.It is open backed and there is no indication that the Diamonds have been Foil backed.It dates from c.1750-60 and is in excellent condition with no signs of Repair or Restoration.It measures 5cms high ( excluding Loop) and3cms wide. I am listed as a Private Dealer but some of my Stock can be viewed at The Antique Shop, 53, High Street Heathfield E.Sussex.If you wish, I am am able meet you there to discuss any items and also bring along any items which are not on Antiques Atlas but not displayed in the Shop.
