Rare George II Scottish Horn Silver S Box 1747
RARE GEORGE II SCOTTISH HORN AND SILVER SNUFF BOX - DONALD FRASER BLACKSMITH ROUT OF MOY 1747
Rare Scottish horn rectangular snuff box, with ogee sides, the lid applied with a circular silver plaque engraved with a Scottish piper and the phrase 'Donald Fraser, Blacksmith, Moy, 1747'.
Donald Fraser Blacksmith of Moy was an intregal part of the Rout of Moy in 1746 commonly known as Scotlands Beautiful Rebellion. The full story can be seen at
Donald Fraser was buried in Moy. The inscription on his gravestone reads, "In memory of Donald Fraser blacksmith of Moy Hall. Captain of the five at the Rout of Moy, Feby 1746 who died at Corry Brough June 1804 and of his son, Donald, Ground Officer, Corry Brough who died Dec 1825."
Measures Height 2 cm, Width 8 cm, Depth 4 cm
Overall in very good condition with just some light wear to the horn material.
