Prudence Turner 1930-2007 Oil Scottish Loch View
We are pleased to offer for sale this lovely oil painting by the artist Prudence Turner, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a view of a Scottish loch, with mountains in the background. The mist is rolling down the mountains and has partially obscured one of them. There is a rocky area to the right of the painting with, below it, grass and heather covered slopes leading to the edge of the water. Unfortunately, on this occasion the artist has not given the location.
PRUDENCE TURNER was born on the 15th March 1930 in Baluchistan, Pakistan of English parents. She took to painting at an early age and entered a competition against much older children at the age of four. She lived in India, Pakistan, Egypt, France and the UK, always learning and painting. Her best works were her Scottish oils on canvas and were mostly painted while she visited Ballachulish near Glencoe. She died on the 15th September 2007. Since 1967, her works have been reproduced in print form. For further information on her and for examples of her work, please do a google search.
Auction results for works by this artist are available from artprice (32 listings), arcadja (33) and findartinfo (59). The highest price achieved by one of her highland landscapes was in 2004 at Bonhams, where a painting achieved £635. Another achieved £528 at Bonhams, Chester in 2009.
The painting is newly framed in a 3" ornate gilt frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
