Description:
This is a fine quality antique English early 20th century colour Lady Hamilton print, on chine-collé, after the original painting by George Romney (1734 - 1802), set within its original gilt reeded frame, circa 1909, in good original condition.
Lady Hamilton was the married mistress of Lord Nelson. He spent much time with her when he visited Jamaica. George Romney painted her in costume as the goddess Diana, presented as a Bacchante, with a spaniel dog on the left-hand side looking up to her, paws outstretched. Lady Hamilton is holding the horns of a goat, which is barely visible, behind her back set under a tree and landscape background. The deep blues in the background emphasis the colour of her eyes and thick brown hair, she was considered a great beauty of her day, her expression looks very seductive. The Lady Hamilton print is set within its original gilt reeded frame. There is a provenance label on the back of this print, which states it was from Medici Prints, 1909 (see picture).
This Lady Hamilton print would look superb in a variety of rooms, in either a traditional or contemporary setting, in the hallway, living or dining room. It would fit well in either small or large room. The picture would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, with it being in original condition and of fine quality. We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
