We are lucky to be able to offer this, another work by the very talented Welsh Artist, Celia Roberts.
A very Biblical scene, the execution of this piece harks back to the intricate Psalter artwork of the Medieval monks, particularly in the striking use of Lapis blue, a precious substance worth more than gold to the Medieval scholars. This piece is vibrant & textural.

Born 1950 in Stafford
Educated at Oxford University 1969-1973 BA Hons in Hebrew.
She has exhibited in the Arterie Gallery in Ludlow, and in the Washington Gallery in Penarth.
Celia Roberts’s pictures, although highly influenced by religion, are intended to capture states of feeling rather than theological ideas. The painter has always been fascinated by the idea of the women at the tomb the Mary Magdalene’s unexpected meeting with someone she thought dead, especially as depicted by Duccio di Boninsegna
