Fine quality victorian papier-mache black laquered and mother of pearl inlaid desk / games table. The hinged flap decorated with mother of pearl castle scene opens to reveal green velour lining, the hinged stationery compartment enclosing inkwells and stationery racks as well as a covered compartment, detaches to expose the most exquisite mother of pearl inlaid chess board. Single drawer to the frieze. Raised on pierced scrolling supports, decorated with painted gilt scrolls and motifs, standing on rectangular feet and castors. A wonderfully decorative yet functional item of antique furniture in very good condition. Please email us for further information.
