Palaeolithic Stone Hand Axe Derby England
From the Sidney Horne collection comes this lovely crafted stone axe. Discovered at Hilton Derbyshire in the 1900s. Other palaeolithic tools that have been found in the area are mainly stone due to the lack of flint around the Hilton area.
I would imagine the axe falls into the pointed ovate type? A well executed piece and fits well in the hand. Size 12.7cm x 7.2cm
