Pair Of Victorian Oil Paintings Of Venice
PAIR OF EARLY VICTORIAN SIGNED VENICE OIL PAINTINGS ON CANVAS IN ORIGINAL ORNATE GILT FRAMES 29 X 24 INCHES.
A beautiful pair of Venetian Oil Paintings on canvas,set inside very decorative early Victorian original frames,offered at low trade price to clear.
The blue skyline is exremely well painted to reflect into the calm waters in the foreground.
Excellent attention to detail has been achieved,with an accurate feeling for scale and colour portrayed.
They are a lovely matching pair,each covering the opposite reflected view of the other side of the canal.
All the colours are vibrant and sharp with the charactor and charm of these Venice scenes exuberating from both paintings.
RESTORATION
Both paintings have recently been professionally cleaned with great care.
The Images show the frames as found with the gilt beval slip of one picture having distress in the lower left corner due to fine cracks (see image 6)
CONDITION
Both in fair order for age after having had a light clean.The frames have a little minor distress,but are otherwise respectable,and are heavy solid frames which enhance the appearance visually.
The canvases have a few tiny old patches firmly fixed to backs,with no sign of any repairs visable from the front.
