This pair of chairs came from one of the antique furniture makers that fed the vogue for Japanese-style bamboo furniture in the late 19th century. Due to their lightness, not many pieces have survived, so a pair of chairs in such good condition is quite rare. They are re-upholstered in a fabric that is sympathetic to the period and style. Circa 1890
