Remarkable pair of mid century painted panels dated 1949 and 1951. Standing six feet tall, painted onto board. Featuring the Virgin and child on one panel, the other is an unusual composition of a haloed Saint with his hands held in prayer and a long handled axe, pictured against a psychedelic flaming background. Both are monogrammed with the initials A & M and dated toward the bottom edge. Presented in matching broad moulded oak frames. Excellent condition.
