Pair of very elegant Regency era mahogany open armchairs c.1830. Curved and upholstered backrests with arched tops and moulded rails. Gracefully shaped arms with reeded and scrolling terminals on palm or papyrus leaf carved supports (typical of the period’s fashion for Egyptian motifs). Loose sprung seat pads over a mahogany veneered apron, raised on shaped front legs with scroll detail at the tops and feet and swept square legs at the rear. Recently upholstered in a sand coloured velvet chenille upholstery. Excellent condition with very clean covers.
