Mary Jackson NEAC RWS is a member of the New English Art Club an exhibiting society of painters founded in 1886 by artists frustrated with the Royal Academy’s staid response to the innovations of Impressionists and Post Impressionist art. The NEAC had a great influence on the direction of British painting through the first half of the twentieth century counting Walter Sickert, Augustus John, Stanley Spencer and Paul Nash amongst its members. The NEAC continues to promote artists like Jackson producing figurative art based on direct observation of the visual world. In 1995 Jackson was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society. Her career includes a period as artist in residence for the Glyndebourne Opera and also held a solo exhibition of English National Opera Paintings and Drawings.
