A Pair of Late 17th Century North Country Backstools

A rare pair of backstools, probably Yorkshire,  with excellent colour and in good, solid condition for their age.
The lobed crescent backs decorated with voluted scrolls, heads and central stack of wheat.
The beautiful original elm plank seats

supported by block and turned legs with baluster front stretcher.

One seat has had a repair and reinforcement splat fitted beneath.
Both chairs have evidence of historic worm to their lower halves

An almost identical pair of chairs can be seen in Halifax Minster.
