Here is a top quality pair of early antique French walnut Fauteuil armchairs, circa 1850, in good original condition. The chairs are constructed of solid walnut and feature arched high-backs, straight seat fronts on turned bobbin legs, which are united by turned “H” stretchers. Below the seat, there is a decorative floral carved stretcher at the front of the chair. The armchairs feature good quality down swept shaped arms, fine quality acanthus leaf carvings to the shoulders, which terminate in scroll ends incorporating further carved acanthus leaves. The shaped arms are secured by ring-turned vertical supports. The chairs boast the original wool and cotton-upholstered tapestries incorporating top quality hardwearing burgundy pink, gold and fawn colours, incorporating a floral scene with peacocks. The sprung seats are extremely comfortable to sit on they do not sag. The upholstery is finished with brass studwork braiding. The undersides of the chairs feature backing material.
The chairs feature a dark rich brown walnut colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.

These chairs are in good original condition. The chairs retain the original tapestry upholstery therefore there is some minor fading to the upholstery. One of the chair seats and the front of the upright section has an old repair to the tapestry (see detailed photos). We have tried to keep the chairs as original as possible, which is why we have not re-upholstered them. If you would like the chairs re-upholstered, please contact us for a quote. The sprung seats are extremely comfortable to sit on they do not sag. The chair frames and arms are in good solid condition. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. These chairs are well constructed, solid in joint and are ready to use.

Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you by email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.
