Pair of Elm Caithness Armchairs
Circa 1920, unusual pair of elm Caithness armchairs. The chairs have a top rail with rounded corners and below this is an open section. The back has 8 turned spindles and from this come 2 heavy shaped arms with a slight curl in the end, supported by chamfered solid uprights. They have a most unusual seat which comprises of 3 turned sections and a flat section which is open at the back and the front. The chairs stand on heavy square legs united by stretchers. Wonderful colour and great patination.
