Description:
This is a top quality pair of Edwardian carved mahogany armchairs, circa 1900, in the style of the Georgian Chippendale period, having newly upholstered seats, in very good condition. The armchairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped serpentine top rail, below which is a finely executed pierced central fretwork splat, topped by understated foliate carvings and flanked by vertical moulded rails. The splayed arms are decorated with scroll ends and are secured by shaped vertical supports. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing silk damask upholstery, with traditional hessian material to the underside. Therefore the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are firm, but comfortable you do not sink into the seat.
Elegantly shaped cabriole legs terminate on pad feet at the front with splayed block legs to the rear. The chairs are heavy in weight and are structurally sound this is a further sign of quality. Please note, this is a true pair of armchairs they have not been matched together from two individual armchairs.
The armchairs emulate a rich mid-brown mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.

The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality top quality luxurious embroidered floral silk damask upholstery and frames polished. The seats are firm but extremely comfortable. The chairs are heavy in weight and well constructed, which is a good sign of quality. As the armchairs retain the original polish, the frames boast a lovely colour and patination. The armchairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are solid in joint (not loose or wobbly) and are ready to use.
